Shree Pratap Sarnaik, Maharashtra Transport Minister and Guardian Minister of Dharashiv, has directed district authorities to initiate a firm crackdown on middlemen allegedly exploiting farmers during land acquisition for windmill projects. Acting on multiple complaints from villagers, he instructed officials to ensure that no intermediary uses intimidation or pressure tactics to influence land deals or deprive farmers of fair compensation.
At a review meeting held at Mantralaya, attended by senior district officers, police representatives, wind-energy companies and farmer groups, Shri Sarnaik emphasised the need for a secure and transparent process. He directed the police to register cases proactively, even without formal complaints, to protect farmers’ interests and maintain accountability throughout the acquisition process.
Shri Sarnaik highlighted the significant potential of the wind-energy sector for Dharashiv’s development and assured full administrative cooperation to genuine investors. At the same time, he made it clear that no project would progress at the cost of farmer welfare or fairness.
He also noted that MSRTC recorded strong earnings during the Diwali season, reflecting improved service delivery and the dedicated efforts of staff across the state.
