For years, the Ghodbunder, Gaumukh, and Kasarvadavali stretch faced severe traffic congestion, causing daily inconvenience to thousands of commuters. Understanding this long-standing issue, Shri Pratap Sarnaik consistently followed up with the government, strongly demanding a dedicated flyover to ease the pressure on this busy route. Responding to these efforts, the then Chief Minister and now Deputy Chief Minister Hon. Shri Eknathji Shinde Saheb sanctioned the required financial support, allowing the project to move forward.
The first phase of the Kasarvadavali flyover has now been inaugurated and opened for public use. With this opening, travel between Thane – Borivali – Vasai – JNPT – Gujarat has become significantly smoother. The project is also helping reduce traffic congestion along the Gaumukh to Wagbil route, offering much-needed relief to daily travellers and long-distance commuters.
Benefits Citizens Are Already Experiencing
- Noticeable reduction in traffic on Ghodbunder Road
- Faster movement across major connecting highways
- Improved travel flow for both local and interstate routes
At present, the left-hand lane of the flyover is operational, while construction on the right-hand lane is progressing rapidly. Once the entire flyover is completed, citizens will experience even faster, safer, and more efficient travel across this crucial stretch.
