The state’s first dedicated pet cremation facility has been established in Thane–Mira Bhayandar, marking a sensitive and eco-friendly step for animal lovers. The issue of the lack of proper arrangements for the last rites of pets was earlier raised in the Legislative Assembly, which eventually led to the creation of this much-needed facility.
For years, improper disposal of deceased pets caused problems such as foul odour, pollution, and the risk of disease. Addressing these concerns, modern gas-based crematoriums have now been set up at Navghar, Kashimira in Mira-Bhayandar, and in Majiwada village in Thane. These cremations are performed using natural gas and propane (LPG), ensuring environmental balance and preventing pollution caused by traditional wood burning.
