Shri Sarnaik, Maharashtra Transport Minister and MSRTC Chairman, conducted an unannounced inspection at the Solapur Central Bus Station, revealing severe lapses in basic passenger amenities and hygiene standards. Moving through key public areas, he observed long-pending issues, including filthy toilets, foul odour, and complaints of illegal overcharging by contractors managing the facilities.

During the inspection, Shri Sarnaik found the toilet blocks in extremely poor condition, with clogged sections, unhygienic surroundings and no evidence of routine cleaning. He questioned the depot manager on the spot after the official failed to explain why such neglect had gone unchecked and why passenger complaints had not been addressed promptly.

Shri Sarnaik also reviewed the drinking water zone, where he discovered stagnant waste, unclean storage areas and poorly maintained surroundings. The concerned officers were unable to justify the lack of oversight, prompting him to order immediate corrective action.

Taking serious note of the dereliction of duty, he directed senior MSRTC officials to issue a show-cause notice to the depot manager and instructed that all deficiencies be rectified within four days. He stressed that passenger services must meet basic standards of cleanliness and convenience without exception.

Shri Sarnaik further stated that he would personally revisit the Solapur depot to verify the improvements. He reiterated that continued negligence would attract strict action, including suspension of responsible officials.
